No firm date has been announced for either Saints’ East of Scotland League or Tayport’s junior campaign starting, but with restrictions beginning to ease it’s hope some call will be made soon.

And both are keen to be able to hit the ground running when the whistle is blown to begin the season by having strong squads.

At Recreation Park, new boss Charlie King has been able to tie down some of his squad from last season to compliment those already signed up on longer contracts.

Saints this week said: “After weeks of uncertainty, St Andrews United is delighted to start announcing player signings for season 2020/21.

“Whilst training will not restart until appropriate lock down restrictions are lifted, new manager Charlie King has been making plans ahead of our centenary campaign beginning.

“We can therefore announce that Michael Fleming, Ross Cunningham, Scot Cunningham, Daryl Falconer and Dylan Honeyman officially signed new deals last week.

“Kyle Wilson, Connor Shaw and Jason Penman are still under contract and three more of last season’s regulars are expected to re-sign this week.

“Talks are also well advanced regarding a new addition and King is working hard to further strengthen the squad.”

At the Canniepairt Chris Macpherson has been equally busy.

Macpherson’s side was really starting to click into gear just as the season was ending and he’s rewarded youngsters Kyle Middleton and Greg Breen with new deals.
