LOCAL side Kirkcaldy YM are busily preparing for the new junior football season under new manager Colin Downie.

The new gaffer has quickly installed his coaching team of Kevin Huskie, Davie Sheach and Ross Harley while on the playing front a total of nine new signings have been added to the squad.

In a swap deal, Dundonald Bluebell duo Shaun Greig and Marco Pelosi have arrived at YM, with Tommy Carr and Ian Lally moving in the opposite direction.

Two new strikers have also been added to the squad, including Greig Meikle from Super League side Kelty Hearts, and promising young Kirkcaldy-based forward Lewis Elder, previously with Newburgh.

A further four ex-Bluebell players have joined their former boss at Denfield Park.

The club kicks off a series of three pre-season friendlies this Saturday when they travel to play St Andrews Amateurs from the FAFA Premier Division.

On Tuesday they will again travel to play Buckhaven Town from the same league, and the final fixture is a match away to Tranent Juniors on Saturday, August 4.

League reconstruction is on the cards for season 2013-14, and the added incentive is that two teams will be promoted from the East Central League, and YM will have their sights on one of these promotion places.

The season kicks off on Wednesday, August 8, with the ACA Sports League Cup, as YM entertain Thornton Hibs in a derby at Denfield.
