Raith Rovers Supporter Director Andy Mill says the fundraising efforts from their fans over the past few months have been fantastic.

All in the club have received over £100,000 from the various ways that supporters have donated to the club to help them through the Covid-19 crisis and now the ongoing legal dispute with Hearts and Partick Thistle.

To help raise further funding to continue with the ongoing legal dispute, Rovers supporters have organised a walk from Stark’s Park to Tannadice this Saturday.

Dundee United fans will also set off from Tynecastle while a contingent from Cove Rangers will begin at their Balmoral Stadium and the three groups will meet at the home ground of the Arabs.

Mill said: “We’re anticipating to all arrive around 8:00pm on Saturday evening.

“It’s 30 plus miles for the Rovers support, we’ve had several requests form some younger fans who would be quite happy to walk the whole distance but the police had advised we can have no more than four at a time on the parts without pavement so we have broken the walk up in to three stages.

“Stage one is open to everyone from Stark’s Park to Balfarg in Glenrothes, at the moment we have around 30 for that stage.

“We’re hoping for a good turnout and for some decent weather as well.

“John Simpson and his daughter Brooke from the New York Sandwich company are providing sandwiches and refreshments along the route which are greatly appreciated.”

The walk is just the latest in a number of fundraising ventures since March starting with the initial crowdfunding page set up by Mill to battle the challenges presented by lockdown.

“Raith supporters have been incredible over the last few months,” he said.

“I set up the initial crowdfunding page which is sitting at £57,000 which is a fantastic amount to raise from our supporters.

“A lot are facing pretty uncertain times with the Covid crisis impacting their financial stability and they never cease to amaze me

“The money they have raised has been a godsend and in total has broken through the £100,000 mark which is amazing.”
