Glenrothes 0-8 Cupar Hearts

Cupar Hearts turned their attention back to the Kingdom Caledonian League last Saturday in their first League game of the year and treated fans to goals galore against a struggling Glenrothes side.

Hearts wasted no time in opening the scoring when Kyle Watson turned in a cross from the back post.

Cupar doubled their lead on 23 minutes when a Kerr Brown cross was dummied by Steven Pennington leaving Gary Sutherland to fire home.

Five minutes before half time Hearts went three to the good.

A Grant Blyth corner found Ryan Gray and his bullet header gave ‘keeper Kevin Ramsay no chance.

Then two minutes later the same men linked up with a carbon copy to give Cupar a four goal advantage heading into the break.

The second half was only minutes old when Hearts grabbed goal number five.

Good play by Gary Brown set up Kyle Watson who blasted in at the near post for his second.

Kyle Watson got his hattrick on 52 minutes when a great ball by Ryan Gray found Steven Pennington and Watson burst the net with his cross.

A bad foul on the hour mark by Sean Jensen on Gary Sutherland gave the visitors a free kick on the edge of the box.

Steven Pennington stepped up and William Lamont for Glenrothes deflected his shot into the net.

Cupar weren’t finished and Ryan Gray, looking for his hattrick, was unlucky to see his shot come back off the post but Jakub Dobes was on hand to cross the ball back in for Grant Blyth to tap in.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Cupar Hearts travel to face Strathmiglo United in a Kingdom Caledonian league match. Kick off 2PM.
