Duff has local youth coaching experience with Benarty Astros 2002s with players from that talented squad set to make the move to Glens.

First team co-managers John Martin and Kevin Smith have backed the project and will aim to bring the youngsters through to the senior side when they’re ready.

Duff said that he “can’t wait to get going” and is looking forward to the challenge.

“The step up to under 20s will be a good challenge for the boys and will help them progress along with the chance to play for the Glenrothes first team,” said the manager.

“We would like to thank Glenrothes FC for this opportunity and hopefully we can get training and playing again soon.”

Glenrothes chairman Peter McQuade has welcomed the creation of the side, adding that he, and the rest of the committee were delighted that the new youth management team were now on board.

Mr McQuade added: “This will enhance our players’ pathway and future projects at the club.”

The club has also announced that the 2008s have now made the move up from the Young Glens to now come under the Glenrothes FC banner.

This now sees this young group of players begin their first steps to hopefully reaching the senior side.
