Glenrothes Juniors 0, Yoker Athletic 1
Glenrothes got their Scottish Cup fourth round tie under way at the third attempt due to the frozen weather in recent weeks.
The Glens started in a positive fashion when a run from Kinnes was only halted by some stout defending, then a through ball from Martin had Griffin straying just offside.
The strong wind was spoiling the game with both sides struggling to come to terms with it.
Yoker had a fine move down the left only thwarted by Kinnes conceding a foul. Glens were making progress but were being caught offside too often.
Yoker had an effort from Frew sail over the bar, while Anderson saw a similar effort just clear the crossbar at the other end.
There was some drama in the 20th minute when Gay had to rush to collect the ball at the feet of Bissland.
Glenrothes won a free kick right on the edge of the box but Forbes saw his effort pushed round the post by Winslow, who plucked the resultant corner out off the air with ease.
In the first minute of the second half an excellent run and cross from Kinnes was cleared by the defence.
Yoker came close when Chang headed over from a free kick, then Griffin made an excellent, run only to be scythed down cynically 20 yards out. Forbes fired the resultant free kick straight at the goalkeeper.
Napier was unlucky when his shot was yet again pushed round the post by Winslow but, with just five minutes to go, Glenrothes conceded the only goal of the game.
The home defence went to sleep and Arbuckle was allowed to fire home from 12 yards. Worse was to follow for the Glens when they were reduced to 10 men, with Wallace picking up a second yellow card.
The game finished with a Martin free kick over the crossbar.
The Glens Scottish Cup campaign comes to an end for another season and it’s back to League business next week away to Dalkeith, with a 2.00 pm kick-off.
