Over the past few weeks there has been confusion over what testing measures would be needed for lower league clubs to meet again ahead of October’s kick off.

Premiership clubs are required to test players for Covid-19 but it was confirmed that those in the divisions below are being spared measures to that extent - and the expense which comes with it. Boss Young is now focused on to preparing his squad for the new season starting.

He said: “We’re back on Thursday at the Oriam and glad to be getting back to it.

“We’ve been following the correct protocols and it’s so far so good.

“It’ll be good to have the boys back in again and see what kind of shape they’re in.

“I’m pretty confident they’ll come back in and won’t have been silly.

“They’ll have enjoyed themselves to a point but will also know the season starts in five weeks, so now is the time to work hard and get themselves in shape.”

Although players will not have to undergo testing, strict safety measures remain in place.

These include limits on how many players are allowed in one area of the training park at any time and how many coaches can work with larger groups.

“It’s a weird one because, as it stands, you’re allowed 18 on half a park with the four coaches or you’re allowed ten and two, and ten and two.

“So we’re probably going to have to split it into a quarter because we have a squad of 19.”

Trialists are allowed to train with the group and a couple have been invited by the Fife boss.
