The midfielder played a pivotal role as Raith came from behind to beat Alloa 3-1 on Saturday with a goal and an assist.

He says he was pleased to hit the back of the net.

"I'm delighted - first goal this season!” he said.

"In fact, the only other goal I've scored for Raith that wasn't a penalty was against Partick in the Betfred semi-final, so it's been a long time coming!

“So I'm really pleased, but as the old cliché goes it was all about the team and the three points, especially after a poor result last week.”

"We're up there in the league and we know that the games we are losin g are winnable games for us, so if we can get a run going then we will definitely stay up there.

“Hopefully that will get us to the play-offs, and who knows what could happen then?”

Rovers trailed for a large part of the match before scoring three times late on, with goals from Iain Davidson, Hendry himself and a third from Jamie Gullan – his first since rejoining the club on loan from Hibs.

Hendry says the players knew they had to be patient if they were going to force the win.

“We knew we were coming into a tough game, albeit they are sitting bottom of the league, but we had watched their last few games.

"They batter teams, like they did against Dunfermline last week for the majority of the game.

“Being 1-0 down at half time wasn't ideal but there was a great reaction from the lads. It was a massive second half from us and it shows what we are all about.

"We were feeling OK at half time. The gaffer was calm in the dressing room because we had been in control.

“In the back of your head you're thinking 'is it going to be one of those days?', but at half time we were still feeling positive.

“We were in control of the game for the whole time - they had two attacks in the whole of the first half and scored from one.

“All the goals came pretty late. They've played a few games close together recently so maybe their legs were tired while we were feeling fresh.

“It was good for us to score a few goals as well.”
