Thornton Hibs fans had plenty to be positive about following their 4-2 win over Luncarty.

Gay opened the scoring before Garry Thomson raced clear and stroked the ball under the advancing Mark Mitchell to double the lead.

The Bleachers began the second-half in more determined fashion but the Hibs defence stood firm although they were a wee bit fortunate in the 67th minute when Scott Finlay’s cross hit the bar.

Within a minute Chris Ireland netted from the spot after Alex Whytock dumped Garry Thomson in the box and then the same man’s diving header from his strike partner, Stevie Leslie’s, cross put Thornton four up.

John Anderson pulled one back and then Scott Finlay scored another in the last minute to make the scoreline look a wee bit more respectable for the Perhshire men.

This weekend Thornton welcome Kilsyth Rangers in the Scottish Cup.

Third place Brechin Vics proved too string for Kirkcaldy YM, brushing their visitors aside 6-1.

Vics raced into a 2-0 half-time lead and, despite a more spirited showing in the second half, the home side continued their scoring.

YM were rewarded late on for all their efforts with a later consolation strike.

On Saturday YM travel to Blairgowrie on league duty.

Dundonald Bluebell’s patchy form away from home continued as they went down 3-1 at Forfar West End.

Morrison had pulled a goal back for Bluebell at 2-0 but the hosts grabbed the decisive fourth goal.

On Saturday Bluebell travel to Aberdeen University in the Scottish Cup.
