Hibs, like pretty much every other club in the country, found themselves frozen out at the weekend as the vast majority of games were called off due to the conditions.

But there was some encouraging news for supporters of the Memorial Park club with a couple of familiar faces returning to the side.

Goalkeeper Andy Warrender is back at the side after a short absence and he is joined by the versatile Nicky McGowan, who can play across the back or in midfield who is now in his third spell at the club.

Off the pitch, Hibs have been celebrating the birthday of one of the club’s longest serving supporters.

Betty Gray turned 80-years-old on Monday with the club sending her a card to thank her for her years of support.

Also left kicking their heels at the weekend were Kennoway Star Hearts and Glenrothes FC.

Like Thornton, their scheduled games were called off due to frozen surfaces across the Kingdom.

The three will be hoping for a thaw this week so they can return to the park on Saturday.

Glens had been due to travel to Burntisland Shipyard with Kennoway at St Andrews United.

Thornton were scheduled to meet Kirkcaldy and Dysart.

All being well, Kennoway Star Hearts will this weekend make the journey to meet Edinburgh United.

Glenrothes host Lochgelly Albert in what is sure to be an exciting Fife derby while Hibs meet Nithsdale Wanderers in the second round of the Challenge Cup.
