Honours even after double header

Firstly the Tuesday night saw Thistle travel to Low Road where Muchty had yet to taste defeat this season.

The locals got off to a bright start when O’Leary took full advantage of a slack McArthur pass to slot the ball past Henderson 1 on 1.

Thistle equalised when a clearance from Ireland found Moir who emulated the finish from O’Leary.

They went in front after 18 minutes when McShane picked out Jukes who finished with aplomb.

Midway through the second half Muchty got themselves back on level terms with Wardrope applying the finish.

Just 11 minutes from time Thistle grabbed what was to prove the winner when Jukes turned Robertson before slipping the ball through to Munro who in turn lifted the ball over the ‘keeper.

On the Saturday Muchty then visited Balmullo.

Bellvue drew first blood when Gorgon missed a through ball with Hastie taking possession before slotting the ball past Henderson.

After 23 minutes it was 2-0 when Brown knocked home a Wardrope corner with time to spare.

Things went from bad to worse for Thistle when Henderson conceded a penalty just after the half hour after a clumsy tackle which Brown despatched.

Thistle grabbed a slim lifeline after 38 minutes when Munro knocked the ball into the path of Bell who marked his first start by volleying the ball into the roof of the net.

The second half saw Thistle looking to get themselves back in the tie, but Muchty were absorbing the pressure with ease and deservedly sealed the three points when Scott Robertson fired home.

The result was the heaviest defeat for Thistle this season and leaves Methilhill looking like the league is theirs to lose whilst everyone else battles for runners up spot.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Thistle play host to Rosebank in the league at 2pm.
