I'll make my Mark with slick Fifers

The former Stirling Albion winger played against Gary Naysmith’s side last season as they swept their way to the title.

In March he was part of a Binos side crushed by East Fife 6-0 at Forthbank in one of their most ruthless displays of the campaign.

When the chance came up to join with the Methil club it was an opportunity Lamont couldn’t refuse.

He said: “I know from playing against East Fife last year that they played a lot of good football.

“The manager said to me that it would be more of the same thing this season and he wants me to get in to the way they play which is with the ball and plenty of passing.

“That’s the way you want it to be when you play football.

“I’m looking to bring a bit of creativity I hope, especially when it comes to one on ones.

“There will be a few assists and I’ll be getting the ball into the box.

“That’s what I’ll deliver.”

Lamont played a huge part in helping East Fife bounce back from being two goals down to Aberdeen on Sunday.

Ten minutes after the break it was his jinking run and cross into the box which forced Ryan Jack to try and clear - only to slice the ball into his own net.

A couple of minutes after that Fife were level when Paul McManus converted a penalty before the Dons stretched ahead with two late goals.

“They were a really good side,” said Lamont.

“We had to adapt to good players and needed to adjust to how they played.

“But we did that and it was good to get a couple of goals as well which will stand us in good stead ahead of the Dundee game.

“The play leading up to both our goals was good and it shows we have the quality to be able to do that.

“It was good for us to play against Aberdeen because we need the same mentality against Dundee to make sure we do the right things.”
