Insall played a crucial part in last season’s League Two win before returning to parent club Hibs when the campaign was over.

But the striker has been unable to force himself into boss Neil Lennon’s plans, and Fife gaffer Gary Naysmith was quick to swoop and add him to the squad again.

Naysmith said: “I am delighted to announce that fans favourite Jamie Insall has agreed to join us once again on loan from Hibernian.

“Once we realised that Chris Duggan was going to be out for a longer period than expected, I felt it was important to get another striker in and I must thank the chairman and the board of directors for finding the money to secure the signing of Jamie.

“Jamie was very keen to return to East Fife once he knew of our interest and the deal was concluded in less than 24 hours.

“He needs no introduction to our supporters and hopefully he will pick up from where he left off last season.

“He has trained with us this week and he will come straight into contention for a starting place in Saturday’s game versus Alloa Athletic.”

Insall’s signing follows on from the addition of ‘keeper Mark Hurst, brought to Bayview from St Johnstone last week.

“We had to act quickly to secure the services of another goalkeeper after we agreed to release Wullie Muir early from his contract due to personal reasons,” said Naysmith.

“Mark is highly regarded by St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright who gave him a glowing recommendation.

“Mark spent last season on loan at Elgin City where he kept 15 clean sheets so he is no stranger to the lower leagues.

“Unfortunately he won’t be available for Saturday’s game as he is away with Scotland U21s and Kevin O’Hara will also miss Saturday’s game as he is away with Scotland U19s.”
