The first fixture of 2021 see the side from the central belt arrive in Methil.

Falkirk go into the game with a comfortable four point lead at the top of League One while Darren Young’s side sit in eighth place.

But the hosts can boast an impressive home record so far this season and will hope to continue that against Falkirk.

In their previous games East Fife recorded a 2-0 home win over Forfar Athletic while Falkirk drew 0-0 with Partick Thistle.

Ahead of the game, in a New Year message to fans, chairman Jim Stevenson thanked all of those who have helped with what has been a troubled season off the park so far.

Mr Stevenson said: “On the football front we have managed to navigate through these months with a great deal of help from you, our wonderful fans who bought season tickets and donated in all the various ways available to help the club.

“I must also thank all our sponsors who were able to support us at this time.

“Added to them has been the James Anderson grant, SFA and SPFL grants also grants from the Government. They all very much help.

"A special mention must go out to our volunteers who have consistently made themselves available to help the club every week. Without them it would have been impossible to carry out all the work required during the pandemic.

"Thanks also to Fifers for the Community for all their work with the installation of the new floodlights and working hard to keep our local youngsters training and using Bayview.

The game is on likely to survive the deep frost which has been spreading across the country and has already forced a series of postponements.”

Amongst the games already called off at the time of writing (10:45 am) are: Arbroath v Inverness Calley Thistle, Dunfermline v Raith Rovers, Dumbarton v Airdrie, Partick Thistle v Clyde, Albion Rovers v Queen’s Park, Brechin City v Elgin City, Cowdenbeath v Edinburgh City.
