The Canniepairt outfit were this week delighted to announce that prolific striker Dayle Robertson has extended his stay with the club.

It’s an exciting time for Tayport who recently announced plans to take part in the new Midlands League, which provides a pathway to the Highland League.

For Tayport to make an impact next season they’ll need a goal threat and Robertson has shown down the seasons he’ll provide exactly that.

The striker’s fantastic goal scoring record at the club had attracted the attention of several admirers, Tayport confirmed, so to retain him is excellent news.

Macpherson’s side managed to complete just four league games last season before the campaign was ended prematurely.

Of those four, they collected maximum points.

Focus now turns to 2021/22, and the Canniepairt boss is keen to see his side hit the ground running and hopes Robertson’s commitment is just the start of a positive pre-season.

The manager said: “We are delighted to secure Dayle for another two seasons.

"Dayle is someone I’ve known for some time and have enjoyed watching him improve year on year.

"He’s integral to the way we play and, in addition to his obvious talents, he works tirelessly for the team.

"We know that Dayle had a number of options, just as you would expect with someone of his goal scoring prowess, but he sees the improvements made by the club both on and off the field and wants to be a part of things for seasons to come."

The creation of the new Midlands League still has to be ratified by the Highland League, but it is expected to be formalised at its annual general meeting in June.

From there it will be all systems go, and Robertson can’t wait to get the campaign kicked off and hopes to help Tayport add some silverware to the Canniepairt trophy cabinet.

He said: “I have been at Tayport for over four years now and really enjoy my football here.

"The improvements both on and off the park recently have been fantastic and I want to be part of winning things in the future."
