They will play and train at East Common, Tayport, and will play in the same colours as the junior team.

The amateurs will be part of the club structure, meaning there will be opportunities for players to progress into the first team.

Former English semi-professional footballer Ryan Anderson, previously with West Allotment Celtic FC and Barnoldswick Town FC, will be player/manager.

Tayport FC chairman Dave Baikie this week welcomed to development and said it can only be good for the sport in the community.

The former East Fife manager said: “I am delighted that there will be amateur football back in the town once again.

"As a club we are committed to providing opportunities for our community.

"Having amateur football back in the town will not only be an opportunity for local players to get involved, but also will offer locals the opportunity to have a stroll down to the common, enjoy a game and offer support to local players.”

The amateur side is now looking for individuals to get involved with the running of the club in either a committee of coaching capacity.

Player trials also begin on Saturday, July 3 at 1pm on East Common.

Tayport have also announced that the club has teamed up with Our Club Lotto to begin a new weekly lottery draw, Port Lotto, which takes place online and replaces the Super Six.

The weekly lottery draw will take place on a Wednesday evening with the first draw on Wednesday, April 7. It costs £1 to enter and each participant can enter up to 10 times a week.

The jackpot will start at £1000 and will be won by matching all four numbers.

If nobody wins, the jackpot will roll over by £50 each week. The money raised will go towards the development of the football club.
