Rovers have announced that 20-year-old Irish midfield player Joel Coustrain has joined the club on a one-year deal.

According to the club website, the player has impressed manager Gary Locke in pre-season friendlies and he may feature in this evening’s Betfred Cup match against Cove Rangers at Forfar, subject to international clearance being obtained.

Coustrain has represented the Republic of Ireland at various youth levels up to U19′ and he has collected five international goals. He was previously on the books of Sheffield United, and Locke moved quickly to sign him after he was released by the Blades a couple of weeks ago.

Locke had told yesterday’s (Thursday) Fife Free Press that he was keen to make new signings and was hopeful that a couple of deals could be concluded soon.
