The hosts were the ever improving Kinross and they knew that avoiding defeat would ensure that they remained just above Lee Sibanda’s side in the table.

There was a big let off for Hearts in the 13th minute when the Kinross front man did well to muscle in on goal but should have done better when he sent his shot wide

The hosts were presented with a free kick in a promising position when Charles Anderson was deemed to have handled the ball but the free kick went straight into the defensive wall.

The 1st half looked like it would finish scoreless with very few chances on goal to write home about only for this to change on 44 minutes when Jakub Dobeas broke the deadlock for the Duffus Park side when a Scott Mckay long throw resulted in a scramble before Dobes got the all-important touch.

The goal looked to have given Hearts a boost and they went out with great intent early the second half to get that vital 2nd goal.

Captain Kyle Watson came the closest and was unlucky to see his shot come back off the cross bar.

On 55 minutes Steven Lawlor missed a golden opportunity when a cross from the left found its way to him but his effort was weak and the ‘keeper easily saved.

The Kinross ‘keeper was on top form and was keeping his side in the game and he produced a fantastic save to deny Scott McKay on the half volley.

With only five minutes remaining Hearts were made to rue missed chances when they failed to deal with a cross into the box and the Kinross striker fired high into the roof of the net to equalise.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Cupar Hearts host Strathmiglo United in a league match up. Kick off 2pm.
