Kirkcaldy & Dysart boss Grant Brough curses 'silly' errors so far this term

Kirkcaldy & Dysart manager Grant Brough has cursed the “stupid mistakes” which he says have cost his side dearly so far this season.

The Denfield outfit’s gaffer has led K&D to 11th position in the East of Scotland Football League first division on eight points from seven matches, but he feels this points tally – accumulated via two wins, two draws and three losses – could have been so much better.

Brough was speaking to the Fife Free Press in the build-up to his side visiting lower league Edinburgh CFC in an Alex Jack Cup second round tie kicking off at 2.30pm this Saturday, before K&D play an away league fixture against fourth-placed Easthouses Lily Miners Welfare next Tuesday, September 15 in a 7.30pm kick-off.

“Every game now is going to be so important,” Brough said. “We've made it difficult for ourselves by dropping points.

"We should have won the last two games. We had the chances, we scored goals, but we've conceded sloppy, silly goals.

"And it's not been good enough, so we need to first of all rectify the stupid mistakes that we're causing.

"We've worked hard, we've scored some cracking goals and yet we've given away very poor goals at the other end.

"We need to rectify that first and foremost to give us a platform to go and win games.

"Taking away the Whitehill game (which K&D lost 5-1 away on the league’s opening day), where I just thought they were better than us, I think a large proportion of the points we’ve dropped in other games has been down to our own mistakes.”
