Livi victory shows Fifers are the real deal

Livi went into the weekend’s game as joint league leaders before being humbled by the Methil men.

But this week East Fife will play the club at the opposite end of the table as bottom dogs Stenhousemuir visit.

After impressing against Livingston, Slattery reckons it’s crucial the side maintains its standards.

He said: “We got a great three points against Livingston but that doesn’t mean anything if we don’t pick up the points against Stenny.

“We have to take the performance into that game now and get the points again.”

Slattery and his side raced into a three goal lead before the break against one of the title challengers.

The quick starting Fifers never looked like being pegged back despite Josh Mullin grabbing a second half consolation.

The midfielder added: “It was a really good win, especially against Livingston who are full-time and one of the better teams in the league.

“But we can do that against any side and it sends out a statement.

“We have Jamie Insall up top who’s capable of doing anything.

“Livingston are a good passing side but the gaffer and Dougie Anderson have us knowing exactly where we need to be all the time.

“We can counter well and will do that to anyone.

“We were three goals up but conceded and then had to defend.

“But we’ve become a side it’s hard to score against.”
