Newburgh were in ascendancy for the majority of the first half with Lochgelly struggling to get the ball over the half way line due to the wind.

Having witnessed the home teams struggle in the first half, ‘Burgh played a more possession-based game working the ball from back to front without resorting to long balls.

On the hour Newburgh doubled their lead when Andy Cameron rose highest to bullet a header off the underside of the crossbar and over the line.

Lochgelly grabbed a lifeline when a sweetly struck free kick by Boyle from just outside the 18-yard-box curled around the assembled defensive wall and evaded Calum Sutherland.

‘Burgh manager Scott Hudson said: “We saw in the first half ho difficult it was going to be to clear our lines in the second half so I told the lads they would have to manage possession to ensure we were not giving ourselves problems. They stuck to their task and I am really pleased to have taken all three points.”

Newburgh welcome Kinnoull this Saturday.
