Losses are double trouble for drop threatened '˜Port

At the weekend John Ovenstone’s men were beaten 3-0 at home by Bo’ness and in midweek suffered a 1-0 loss at Broughty.

With just two games left to play, Tayport sit third bottom of the Super League while all the clubs around them have games in hand - some as many as five.

Gaffer John Ovenstone says he knows where his side’s problems have stemmed this season.

Crucial mistakes at pivotal times are continuing to cost Tayport points, said the Canniepairt boss.

Speaking after the Bo’ness game, the manager said: “It was frustrating, as individual errors again cost us.

“We matched Bo’ness for the first 65 minutes, then the game got away from us.

“We had two really good opportunities to take the lead.

“It would obviously have given us a massive boost, but we didn’t convert and then Bo’ness did what good teams do, they took advantage when their openings came along.”

Tayport now know they must pick up six points from their final two matches to keep their chances of staying up alive.

Their next league game is on May 21 when they host Kelty Hearts.
