Thistle travelled to face league leaders Markinch who were boasting a 100 per cent record whilst Thistle were looking to find some consistency having dropped several points already this season.

There were two debutants in the Balmullo sides line up with Steven Harris and Callum Player going straight into the starting 11.

Thistle keeper Anderson was making the most of his first start of the season with a confident performance and the keeper did well on the half hour to deny Strachan.

It was hard to say which way the tie was going to go and again Anderson came to Thistle’s rescue as he denied Wilson.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 79th minute and it was Thistle who went in front when great play from Barnes saw him drive to the line before delivering a ball into the box where Harris rose to head home a debut goal.

With just two minutes left Markinch got themselves back on level terms when a corner from Brown was cleared only as far as Wilson who let rip with a screamer from all of 30 yards which flew into the net giving Anderson no chance.

A share of the spoils probably a fair result in the end with neither side too unhappy.
