Markinch survive the dreaded drop

Despite being five points adrift at the foot of the Kingdom of Fife AFA Championship, Markinch AFC have retained their place in the same division, writes Shane Fenton.

Positions in all three leagues have been resolved using an average points system. No teams will be relegated while three teams from the Championship will be promoted making it a 14 team Premier League next season.

Five teams will come up from Division 1 to play in the Championship making that a 12 team league.

The six remaining sides in Division 1 will be joined by eight new teams who have received application forms to join the association. Additional teams may be promoted to balance out the leagues.

Balgonie Scotia will play in the Premier, Markinch, Glenrothes and Freuchie in the Championship with Kennoway Star Hearts and Falkland in Division 1.

The teams crowned champions for the 2019/20 season were Premier League - Leven United, Championship - Kelty and Division 1- Lochgelly United.
