Miller says Raith Rovers are taking it one game at a time

Michael Miller insists no-one at Raith Rovers is talking of winning the League One title despite sitting four points clear at the top.

The 25-year-old defender was talking after Saturday’s 1-1 draw away to foot of the table Stranraer, a game played in the most atrocious weather conditions, which saw the Stark’s Park side move a point further ahead of second placed Falkirk, though the Bairns have a crucial game in hand.

“We’re just taking it one game at a time,” he said, “obviously it’s coming up to crunch time now so every point is vital.

“We’re taking each week as it comes and we’re not saying we’re title favourites or this-and-that, we’ll just take each game as it comes.

“It’s unfortunate that we couldn’t get the win (against Stranraer), it was a tough day all round. We knew exactly what we were coming down to. We were prepared for a battle.

“The first half I thought went really well. The second half we just couldn’t really get a grip of it.

“We lost a bit of momentum and the ball wasn’t really rolling for us as well as it had.

“It just became quite open after that. I was hoping we could hold on for the win but I’m just glad we didn’t get beaten.

“We came down here earlier in the season and we lost. I’m glad we didn’t get beat, but again, we would have liked the win.”

Rovers travelled to Stair Park as pre-match favourites but soon found the howling wind and heavy rain to be a real leveller.

“You can talk about it but you can’t really prepare,” Miller said.

“It’s the same for both teams obviously. It was really tough because the wind was going in a certain direction in the first half so when you come out for the second you think you can prepare for it, but it ended up going in all directions.

“It was really hard when the ball was coming down like a dart from long punts or goal kicks.”

Miller was penalised for the foul that led to Stranraer’s penalty kick, but says referee David Lowe called it incorrectly.

“I didn’t think it was, I’d be honest if I felt it was.

“Personally I think I got the ball, but what can you do? It’s not really my place to say now, is it? It’s not going top change the outcome.”

He says there is a slight frustration that Rovers couldn’t open up a six-point gap over Falkirk.

“Our target was to win,” he said, “we wanted to try and do that but it’s still another point on the board.

“We’ve a cup game next week then we’ll be back to the league the week after and will be looking to win again.

“It’s a massive 12 games coming up for us.”
