My future can wait until Raith are safe

The towering Frenchman was a commanding presence at the heart of the Raith defence as he helped the side claim a much-needed 2-1 victory over Dundee United on Saturday.

The 28-year-old centre-half has been a stand-out performer since moving up from England in the summer, where his previous clubs include Oldham, Barnsley and Sunderland.

The club are keen to retain the former France U19 international but M’voto stressed that his only focus for now is on avoiding relegation.

“I don’t know about my future yet, I’m just focusing on what is happening right now,” he told the Press.

“We’re not in a good situation and we want to get a bit higher in the table.

“We want to finish what’s happening now, then think about the future afterwards.

“Everybody wants to be focused on the club’s future first, then afterwards we can think about the individual.”

M’voto was named man of match on Saturday as the team quickly bounced back from the 4-0 defeat in Dumbarton.

“It was a big win,” he said. “It was a difficult week for us and we wanted to make amends for what we did in Dumbarton.

“I think everybody knew what happened last week wasn’t good so we needed to put things right and just make sure we put in a good performance first, then after that, the win will come.

“As players we realised we needed to be more hard-working and go for it. Not just stand back and watch.

“I think we did it properly. We worked hard, and fought, and everybody is happy.”

M’voto revealed that he is enjoying playing alongside his second defensive partner of the season, Craig Barr, after starting the campaign alongside Kyle Benedictus.

“I’ve had a good partnership with him (Barr) even if sometimes the results haven’t gone for us,” he said.

“At first it was a bit different because I was used to playing with Bene, and it takes you one or two games to get used to it.

“But I quickly get to know how he defends and how he does things, and he talks a lot which is good for me.”
