He played 29 times in all last season, scoring four goals, as Rovers won the League One title.

Manager John McGlynn says Tait’s new contract is deserved.

“Dylan has gone from strength to strength since making his first team start against Ross County Colts at the start of last season, building on that throughout the season,” he said.

“He has started this season as a regular which we feel is deserved, and is being rewarded with this extended contract which gives him peace of mind and security.

“It also gives security for the club too, knowing that we will be working with Dylan until at least the summer of 2024.″

Tait signed for the club at the same time as his friend Kieron Bowie – both arriving at Stark’s Park from the Fife Elite Academy.

He said Bowie’s success is something that he is looking to emulate.

"I’m enjoying it here and it’s a good place to keep developing. Hopefully I can play more games and keep improving.

"I’ve had a couple of bumps in my career but everything is going the way I want it to just now.

"It was good playing with Kieron last year and he’s done well with his move down to Fulham.

"It just shows what can happen. If you do well here you never know who is watching you.”
