It originally started out allowing fans to buy tickets for scheduled league games which were due to be played.

Once the season was over, a virtual Scottish Cup was set up, which gave supporters an opportunity to further help their clubs.

It’s been a terrific success with Newtongrange Star raising an incredible £6176 at the time of writing.

Star president Joe Wilson says the platform has been a God send for the club.

“After an unbelievable run in the ‘Donateaticket Scottish Cup’ all good things come to an end.

“The whole club has been involved in what has been the biggest fundraiser for the club in recent times.

“A huge thank you has to go to Andrew Hickie, who had his finger on the pulse when the Donate a Ticket guys were looking for clubs to take part.

“The excitement created through Facebook and Twitter has been incredible and I’m sure that I’ll not be the only one to miss the buzz of the last few hours on a Sunday night.”

The funds raised will be used wisely, said Mr Wilson, specifically to continue the huge amount of work that has been going on at New Victoria Park in recent weeks.

The club is now waiting patiently to find out when they can get together again and look ahead to the new season.

“There’s plenty going on behind the scenes as we prepare to move through the government phases to the point where we can watch the team, being put together by Chris and Wes take to the immaculate pitch being tenderly cared for by Stevie Thomas and Wes,” added Mr Wilson.

“Once again thank you to everybody who purchased a ticket, every donation is much appreciated. Thanks also go to Ruaridh Kilgour.”
