Thistle made a great start to the match and took the lead after only nine minutes when Ireland did brilliantly to steal possession before cutting the ball back across the face of goal where Shepherd was on hand to slam the ball home.

The lead was to be short lived when just three minutes later the visitors were back on level terms when Henderson misjudged a long ball through and Brechin nipped in to beat the keeper to the ball.

Just after the half hour mark Thistle restored their advantage thanks to a thunderbolt from McLaren who volleyed home from 22 yards.

Once again Bayside responded well to going behind and just two minutes after falling behind they were boosted as Thistle were reduced to 10 men after Brown mistimed his challenge on Brechin resulting in a penalty and a straight red for the defender.

Brechin stepped up but his spot kick was well saved by Henderson.

With 63 minutes on the clock Bayside levelled the match arguably against the run of play when a corner was met by Morris who somehow managed to squeeze the ball past Shepherd.

In the final minute of the game the resilience and tenacity paid off as Thistle grabbed the winning goal when, after a spell of good pressure, Gough knocked the ball across the face of goal and there was Band to tap in from two yards out.
