That’s according to midfielder Pat Slattery who says the Methil squad are hitting it off both on and off the park this season.

The Fifers took another giant stride towards the championship on Saturday, beating Arbroath 1-0 at Gayfield.

Their win was made all the sweeter with the news that all of the clubs chasing them for top spot had dropped points.

The Fifers are flying and Slattery says there have been a few key ingredients to it.

He said: “It’s down to hard work, consistency - we all know our jobs and we’ve gelled well as a team both on and off the park.

“We have a really good team spirit and are a strong unit.

“Our fitness it great as well.

“During pre-season we really knocked our pans in and we had a great turn out with all the boys really wanting to be part of it.

“That’s really helping us out now at this time of the season.”

The Methil club have just four games to go until the season ends.

Slattery is convinced that his side has enough quality to get over the line.

“We’ll be taking nothing for granted and have Clyde in a couple of weeks which will be a massive game,” he said.

“We won’t be getting too far ahead of ourselves.

“The run the side has been on is phenomenal.

“Once a Saturday comes we turn up and have a job to do and it’s something the boys have been doing really well.

“There are players in our team who can break down the majority of defences.”
