Despite being two goals up over their rivals, Saints forced their way back into the game to ensure a draw.

The Canniepairt boss said:

“The 2-2 draw felt very much like a defeat.

“We basically threw the game away.

“As well as missing numerous first half chances, the players seemed to rest on their laurels after we went two up and didn’t go for the jugular after the break.”

‘Port now turn their attention to Saturday’s match against Armadale Thistle.

Ovenstone is targeting three points to enable his charges to keep in touch with the teams at the top of the table.

“We’ll be up for the challenge that Armadale will pose but we can’t afford another Jekyll and Hyde performance,” said Ovenstone.

“We need to put together a full 90 minutes.”

Opponents Armadale will go into the Canniepairt clash in optimistic mood after beating Tranent last week to collect their first win since August. ‘Dale currently sit second from bottom of the table though, so despite a frustrating series of results, Tayport will be favourites to clam the win.

Alan Tulleth and Sergio Alvarez should start.

Kick-off is 2.00pm.
