Pars are hit for six as Fife win Kingdom derby

East Fife travelled to Kinross High School in a top of the table derby day clash against Dunfermline.

The Fifers started the day two points ahead of their Fife rivals but knew that a Pars win would see them slip to second on the table.

Fife should have gone one ahead when Skivington was fouled in the box, but the referee waved play on.

Both teams were creating chances but finishing was poor until a quick free kick from Anderson caught the Dunfermline defence out and Guppy raced clear to finish.

Dunfermline could have been back on level terms quickly from a quick free kick of their own but again Walas stopped a Walker shot.

The game then moved to the opposite end with Wheatly getting to a short back pass just before the keeper and her lob found the back of the net on 39 minutes.

East Fife went three up just before half time when a clever run from Tennant was spotted by a Graham free kick, leaving the defender to knock the ball in to her own net with no other choice.

East Fife started the second half looking for a goal to kill the game and it came on 49 minutes. McAllister found room inside the Dunfermline box and her shot come cross was stabbed home from a Skivington lunge. Player of the match Guppy got her second on 55 minutes after good midfield play sent her through on goal. Her shot found the inside of the post leaving the keeper with no chance.

Dunfermline did not give up and after an East Fife corner was cleared the ball was played quickly up the park. Fife appeared to have it under control but rather than collecting the ball Walas opted to kick. As the ball arrived at the striker with an unfair fed net 20 yards out, Anderson threw herself at the ball in an attempt to stop the inevitable but only succeeded in heading in to her own net. This rallied Dunfermline and they got a second but again from a mistake from East Fife. Having had an opportunity to clear the ball, possession was lost and an easy claim was fumbled by Walas in the Fife goal.

East Fife did have the last say and it was fitting that it was Guppy for her hat-trick.

Fraser spotted her run from midfield and played an inch perfect pass in to her path. Guppy showed great composure to round the keeper and score from a very tight angel.

East Fife Violets were at King George taking on Dunfermline Development under assistant coach/player Sarah Herd.

Having been 2-1 down at half time, the Fifers rallied and won 5-2 with goals from Bryant (2), MacKenzie (2) and McAdam.
