Dundee Violet....................3

Saints were good in patches at the weekend but unfortunately the good patches did not last long enough and chances created were not taken.

Straight from the off Saints lay siege to Violet’s goal and opened the scoring through Hendry.

Despite the pressure Violet kept it to one goal down.

Saints make it 2-0 in 14 minutes when a good corner from the right looked like being another chance missed as it was headed against the back of a Violet defender.

Fortunately it rebounded to Sibanda at the back who forced the ball over the line at the far post.

The visitors were beginning to settle, and playing with a bit of width up the left, began to create some good play.

The game was more even now and Violet began to look worth a goal and they got it in the 25th minute when Kane got time to put a half volley past Saints’ Hunter.

The second half started with a reversal of the first as Violet got an early goal when Hood took his chance.

In 53 minutes referee Bell adjudged a foul was committed in Saints’ area.

Ex Saints’ player, Dignan, stepped up to take the penalty and fired it past Hunter into the corner to put Violet 3-2 in front.

Saints players looked down and struggled to put it together for a period of 20 minutes with only the odd run from Buchan and the odd effort across Violet’s goal came to nothing.

Substitutes Ireland and Falconer for Saints took up positions on the left and through the middle respectively and the home support began to think Saints might get back into it.

Violet still had the odd dangerous break but it began to be Saints taking control and with 11 minutes to go, a break for Saints, when referee Bell awarded a penalty.

Schiavone took it well by hitting a fierce shot past the Violet keeper.

Violet held out to wrestle a point away.
