Rovers took the lead after only two minutes when McCarroll’s cross from the left eluded the keeper and drifted into the top corner of the net.

AM were soon back on terms, equalising in the 10th minute when their striker gathered a long ball and slotted past Barclay to make it 1-1.

Rovers went back in front in the 20th minute when Allan drilled the ball through the keeper.

Rovers now had the upper hand and extended their lead in the 25th minute.

Darren Wilson’s pass from defence picked out McCarroll who slotted the ball into the path of Allan and he rounded the keeper with some neat footwork and put Pittenweem 3-1 up.

Rovers shot themselves in the foot in the 33rd minute when they failed to clear the ball, in front of goal, and AM prodded the loose ball into the net to make the score 3-2.

AM drew level on the hour mark with a somewhat bizarre goal.

A seemingly harmless effort went goalward and both keeper and defenders left the job of clearing to one another and it trundled into the bottom corner of the net to make the score 3-3.

Both sides kept plugging away for the remaining half hour but with no more goals, it was honours even on the day.
