In the 41st minute Rovers doubled their advantage when McGhee slammed the ball into the net from 10 yards.

The home team seemed to have shaken off their rustiness of the preceding weeks and went further ahead just before the break.

Rovers won a free kick 20 yards out and Allan curled the ball up and over the wall and into the top corner.

It took only four minutes after the restart to further extend their lead.

From a free kick in midfield, David Wilson floated the ball into the box and as the Kirkcaldy defenders hesitated, Allan did not, and he capitalised on the indecision to head home and complete his hat trick.

Just before the hour mark Rovers went 5-0 up with a superb strike from Gardner.

Rovers captain, Smith, completed a good day’s work for Pittenweem when his near post run and header flashed past the keeper and into the net, McGhee, again, the provider from a corner kick.

Rovers will aim to take this form forward into next week’s league game, when Hearts of Beath visit.
