Players commit to Tayport as clubs look to new year

Tayport have continued to mould their squad ahead of the 2020-21 season kicking off, whenever that may be.

Gaffer Chris Macpherson has been busy behind the scenes at the Canniepairt, extending the contracts of two of his current squad.

Kris Rollo and Craig Sturrock have both penned fresh deals and join Dayle Robertson and Brad Ness in extending their stays at the club.

Robertson and Ness signed new contracts before last season ended prematurely.

The club said: “We can confirm that experienced midfielder Kris Rollo and defender Craig Sturrock have extended their contracts for the coming season.

“Both players were in excellent form last season and really played a big part in the club’s turnaround.”

The club has continued to raise funds through a Just Giving page set up at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/tayportfc

Over the past week the total amount donated to Tayport has topped the £3000 mark.

St Andrews United and Newburgh joined the Donate a Ticket scheme where fans were able to pay an ‘entry fee’ to a virtual game.

The Recreation Park side made a triple figure amount while Newburgh made over £1000.

The newly formed Newburgh Amateurs have also been laying plans for their debut season.

The club will play in the amateur ranks when the next campaign begins and to tune them up for their arrival have organised a series of freindlies to get warmed up.

Organised games are against Newburgh FC, Fife Thistle AFC, Kirkcaldy Albion AFC, Newport AFC, Fife Thistle ‘B’, Dunfermline Athletic SC, Freuchie AFC.
