Tayport earned their first Super League point since August when they shared four goals with visiting Sauchie on the Canniepairt.

But there was still an element of frustration as ‘Port had led 2-0.

The hosts put themselves in the driving seat thanks to a strong start to the match.

The opener came 20 minutes into the contest.

Gary Sutherland found Dale Reid and his ball across goal was turned into his own net by Steve Dolan.

The Sauchie defender had been forced into an intervention as Danny Cavanagh had been poised to cash in on Reid’s pass.

Ten minutes later, Tayport scored again with Reid again the provider and Cavanagh this time having the opportunity to find the net.

The attacking midfielder curled a beauty into the top corner for a cracking counter.

As half-time approached, Sauchie reduced the deficit in controversial circumstances.

Following a corner kick, there was something of a scramble inside the area and the visitors were awarded a penalty.

Gavin Sorley saved Brian Morgan’s spot kick, but fellow front-man Ian Diack reacted quickly to steer the ball home from close range under suspicion of encroachment.

Six minutes into the second half it was Sauchie who netted the fourth goal of the afternoon.

Gavin Sorley conceded a disputed corner and, while nothing came from the visitors’ delivery, they maintained the pressure and the ball eventually broke for Jon Tully who calmly slotted his shot low into the corner the level things up.

During the remainder of the contest, ‘Port did have chances to regain the lead.

Clark Kay curled a free kick narrowly over the top and Marc Ogg was off-target with a speculative effort when the Sauchie ‘keeper was off his line.
