Tayport have taken maximum points from their opening three games of the season, scoring 11 goals and conceding just one into the bargain.

Their most recent win came on Saturday when they saw off Forfar West End at the Canniepairt.

Macpherson was naturally pleased with the performance and reckoned visitors Forfar, who were beaten 3-1, got off lightly.

With the scores level at 1-1, Tayport kicked up a gear in the second half and a Dayle Robertson double ensured a comfortable win in the end.

The Canniepairt boss was delighted with his squad and heaped praise on talismanic striker Robertson for the impact he had on the game.

He said: “I thought we deserved the win again and we were unlucky not score more.

“I’ve got to give credit to the coaches because the training has been really intense.

“We train like we play, so we should really be ticking over nicely.

“Dayle Robertson was unplayable at times.

“He worked hard, he worked the defenders hard and one of his finishes was just tremendous.”

“It’s December now so we have to be prepared to miss games. It’s not an excuse to rely on.”

This weekend, the team face East Craigie in what looks to be their toughest challenge in the league so far.

East Craigie have themselves made a perfect start to the season by winning their opening fixtures.

But it’s in front of goal they’ve been proving their threat, netting an eye-watering 23 times in three games and, like ‘Port, conceding just the once.

It sets things up nicely for Saturday but boss Macpherson is in no doubt about how difficult the task will be at Craigie Park.

“Craigie are known to be ‘giant killers’ so it’s going to be a tough game. But the boys are looking forward to it,” said the manager.

Tayport’s match at Craigie Park kicks off at 1.30pm.

With supporters unable to attend their games, Tayport’s matchday programme has gone online this season.

It’s available to all and can be accessed on the club’s website at www.tayportfc.org
