Tayport's Gregor Anderson blocks a close range effort during his first spell at the club. The defender has now returned on loan from Montrose.

John Ovenstone’s men have a solid home record this season, but the gaffer was bitterly disappointed that his troops suffered their first Canniepairt defeat last weekend.

Kennoway Star Hearts won 4-3 and Ovenstone said, “The coaching staff and the players are all really frustrated by the result and performance.

“I felt we were the better side in the first half, but we let KSH take us on after the break and we left it far too late to try to get back into the game.

“Too many players produced off performances.

“We were poor defensively and the midfield wasn’t as energised as normal.

“The only person who was up to standard was Gary Sutherland.”

Sutherland’s hat-trick was the only plus for Tayport and, with six goals in his three appearances since coming back to the club, the striker will be gunning for Carnoustie tomorrow.

Dale Reid and Alan Tulleth have also been in amongst the goals, so they too will be a threat to the Gowfers.

‘Port will have to do better in defence though.

Although things did not work out against KSH, the return of last season’s player of the year, Gregor Anderson, on loan from Montrose, will help to solidify the back line.
