Kirkcaldy’s Nicole Carter recently had the highlight of her football career to date, turning out twice for the Scotland U15 Women’s team in their recent double header against Germany.
Although Scotland lost both matches, Nicole was delighted to have been given the opportunity to play for her country, telling the Press: “It was a brilliant experience, everyone was so friendly and it was great fun.
“It really hit home that it was a real international match when we were each allocated a mascot to walk out with, followed by the national anthems.
“The whole experience was memorable from start to finish.”
The 14-year-old striker – who plays for Raith Rovers Girls U15s and attends Kirkcaldy High School – played one full game and most of the second match two days later.
Dad Richard was “gutted” that he couldn’t get time off to fly over to Germany, but has watched the footage of the matches and was delighted for Nicole.
He said: “We are so proud of her hard work to achieve two international caps for her country.
“Although her English uncle is still trying to get her to swap allegiance to England, she is having none of it!”
