Raith Rovers announce retained list as Benedictus and MacDonald agree new two year deals

Benedictus and MacDonald have agreed two year deals which take them through to the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

Also returning for the new season ahead on one year extensions are experienced trio Iain Davidson, David McGurn and Grant Anderson.

Ross Matthews is rewarded for his impressive displays in midfield last season, and is joined by Daniel Armstrong in also committing to the club until the end of the upcoming campaign.

Robbie Thomson and David McKay complete the list of out of returning players having also agreed new one year deals.

Departing the Kirkcaldy side are Michael Miller, Tony Dingwall, Joao Victoria and Lewis Allan who have not been offered new deals.

Loan trio Ross Munro, Steven Anderson and Steven MacLean also depart with MacLean having now hung up his boots to take on a coaching role at St Johnstone and Anderson signing on at League 1 Forfar Athletic.

As already reported, teenage striker Keiron Bowie completed his move to English Championship side Fulham this month having agreed a pre-contract deal with the London side earlier in the year.

Finally, the club also officially said good bye to striker John Baird who has emigrated to Australia following a third spell at Stark’s Park which ended with him scoring the match-winning goal against Forfar that maintained Rovers’ lead at the top of the League 1 table.
