Supporters director Andy Mill called the reaction “absolutely amazing”.

He said: “I never thought in my wildest dreams that we would reach that target so quickly.

“It’s just been amazing, especially when you consider the people that are donating are probably facing their own financial challenges or uncertainties regarding this virus.

“It really has been quite astounding.”

Andy says the supporters’ reaction shows how important the club is to its fans.

“I’ve been amazed at the level of support people have shown us, it’s an indication of how people feel about the club.

“When the going really does get tough they’ve responded magnificently.

“It’s got to be said as well, it’s not just been Raith Rovers fans. Obviously they are in the majority, but we’ve had donations from supporters of other clubs as well, which has been quite touching.”

Should the final target be reached, Andy says the hard work will still continue.

“We set that initial target but obviously the fundraising isn’t going to stop.

People have pledged money on a monthly basis so we’ll keep that going for as long as people are happy to contribute.”
