The JustGiving appeal was set up to bridge the financial gap in the clubs coffers caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the club’s board hoped to reach a target of £50,000.

That figure was reached this morning with £50,122 donated by 849 generous football fans.

Supporters director Andy Mill said he was “surprised and delighted” with the news.

“Well done everybody!” he said.

“I’m delighted to have reached our target so quickly.

“It’s testament to the passion our supporters have for our club.

“I would imagine that everybody is facing financial uncertainty at this difficult time and for them to raise such a fantastic amount is just incredible.”

It comes as the second piece of good news for the club this week after they were declared League One champions following the vote taken on the SPFL Resolution to end the 2019/20 season early.

Andy said: “The decision that was taken by Dundee to vote yes has drawn a line under the uncertainty of the league set up.

“Obviously there’s still more to discuss regarding reconstruction of the league, but firstly that’s us promoted, that’s us champions.

“It’s not the way we would have wanted to get promotion but it is what it is and we’ll just have to accept that.

“I’m just absolutely delighted for everyone associated with the club.”
