Raith Rovers will hold the club’s annual awards evening for 2020 online.

Due to the lockdown caused by the coronavirus outbreak, the usual awards evening plans have had to be shelved.

But the club is still keen to reward those who have performed so well during the club’s title-winning season and instead will announce the winners over social media this weekend, allowing all the club’s supporters to enjoy the event.

A spokesman on the club’s website said: “With the social distancing restrictions currently in place, we’ve been unable to go ahead with our annual awards evening dinner this year.

“However, the club and organising committee felt it was still necessary to recognise the achievements of the successful season we’ve enjoyed this year.

“So, although we can’t hold a public event, we will still be revealing the winners of the awards on Saturday, May 9 at 7pm on social media.”

Two of the categories – Supporters’ Player of the Year and Goal of the Season – will be decided by a public vote which has now closed.

The timing of the awards event has still to be finalised but the club will announce more details on the event via its website closer to the weekend.
