Less than five weeks after Raith Rovers suffered the heartache of losing 6-1 on aggregate to Ross County in the Scottish Premiership play-off final, Ian Murray’s team have been back in pre-season training since Monday and return to action in a pre-season friendly fixture at East Fife this Saturday which kicks off at 2pm.

The match at the MGM Timber Bayview Stadium is a testimonial for East Fife’s Pat Slattery, 31, the club’s current longest-serving player who has made 256 appearances for the club currently managed by Dick Campbell, scoring on four occasions.

A League Two winner with the fellow Fifers back in season 2015/16, midfielder Slattery will be honoured in the game against Raith’s new look squad, which at the time of writing had been boosted by the arrival of no fewer than seven new signings this summer including Shaun Byrne, Paul Hanlon, Lewis Stevenson, Callum Fordyce, Kai Montagu, Lewis Gibson and Kieran Freeman.

Entry costs £10 for adults and £5 for under-16s. The match is pay-at-the-gate with a live stream also being organised by East Fife TV.

Raith’s pre-season friendlies continue with a fixture at Montrose on Wednesday, July 3 which kicks off at 7.45pm.

Murray’s men are then in further friendly action at home to Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday, July 6, with this Stark’s Park encounter kicking off at 2pm.

The serious stuff then begins on Saturday, July 13, when Raith visit Stirling Albion in their Premier Sports Cup Group H opener, kick-off 3pm.
