"We're part of the Adam Smith Global Foundation and we try to help out,” he said.

“Our owner John Sim is a trustee and we thought that with Black Friday coming up this week, and then Christmas, that we would make it easier for Raith Rovers fans to buy club merchandise.

“Not everybody can get online, or there's people like me who find it difficult when it comes to it.

“So we spoke with Iain MacDonald at the Foundation and we thought we would come in here and take part of the space, from tomorrow (Friday) right through until Christmas.”

He added: “All our merchandise that we have in stock will be on sale here.”

Iain MacDonald, a trustee of the Foundation, said that the partnership fitted with the hub’s ethos.

"What we’re trying to do is get as many different elements to Enlightenments as we can,” he said.

“The idea is that we’re trying to revitalise this part of Kirkcaldy, especiallly in the Merchants’ Quarter where Adam Smith did most of his work.

“He lived around here and wrote most of books here too and we use his legacy to drive up Kirkcaldy.

“In here we have four parts – we have the cafe, we have the artisan crafts and bakery section, we have our retail section and we have our training and employment sector in conjunction with Fife Council.

“We call it a social enterprise hub with the emphasis being on people who live and work in Kirkcaldy and Fife and we’re trying to do as much as we can for local enterprise and business.

He added: “We’re very much looking forward to welcoming the Raith Rovers supporters who maybe haven’t been here yet.”

Enlightenments is open from 9.30am-4pm, Monday to Saturday.
