John McGlynn’s side travel to Greenock to face the side against whom they recorded their biggest win of the season so far.

At the beginning of November, Rovers thumped David Hopkin’s side 5-0, with goals from Dan Armstrong, Frankie Musonda, Fernandy Mendy and a double from Ross Matthews.

Hopkin quit in December and since their hammering in Kirkcaldy, the troubled side, now being guided by interim boss Anton McElhone, have only won one of their subsequent 10 Championship games – a 2-1 victory over Dunfermline at East End Park.

Despite the contrasting fortunes of the sides, Raith boss McGlynn says he expects a tough match and not just for footballing reasons.

“It will be a difficult game because I watched the Friday night game that they played against Dunfermline and the pitch was terrible,” he said.

“It was absolutely terrible and the weather hasn’t got any better since then, so I can only imagine this being a mudbath.

“At the level we’re playing at, you need a good pitch to have a chance of playing good football. Unfortunately, it’s not going to be like that, so we will try and do the best we can on a rubbish pitch. It will be a tricky game, though, because when you’re a passing team like we are, you need a good surface.”

McGlynn added that captain Kyle Benedictus has joined the injured Gozie Ugwu on the sidelines and will miss the next couple of weeks after being injured against Dundee.
