Raith Rovers have been rewarded for their brilliant League Cup second round win over Hamilton with a lucrative tie against Celtic.
The Kirkcaldy side will travel to Parkhead to face the cup holders in the last 16 of the competition with the tie scheduled for September 22 or 23.
Rovers previous visit to Celtic Park was also on League Cup business as they crashed to a 4-1 defeat at the same stage of the competition in 2012.
Gary Hooper scored all four Celtic goals that night, with Allan Walker netting a consolation for the Fifers.
A relatively low crowd of 14,737 watched that match, although a similar gate would still give the club coffers a boost.
Raith also met Celtic in the Scottish Cup later that season, losing 3-0 at Stark’s Park in the last 16 in February 2013.
Raith have only beaten Celtic once in the League Cup, and fans of both clubs will not need reminded of the occasion.
It was in the Coca-Cola Cup final of 1994, played at Ibrox Stadium, where Raith famously defeated Celtic on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
The full League Cup third round draw is:
Kilmarnock v Hearts
Livingston v Inverness CT
Ross County v Falkirk
Rangers v St Johnstone
Celtic v Raith Rovers
Morton v Motherwell
Dundee United v Dunfermline Athletic
Hibernian v Aberdeen
