Raith Rovers have signed one former Dundee United player ... with another rumoured to be on his way.
Midfielder Darren Petrie was yesterday confirmed as Raith manager Ray McKinnon’s first new signing following his recent release from the Premiership side.
The 19-year-old made only one substitute appeared at Tannadice, but previously played under McKinnon during a loan spell at Brechin City in season 2013-14.
Petrie spent the second half of the season just past on loan at Dumbarton, where he made eight appearances scoring one goal.
His profile on the official Dundee United website describes him as “a fiercely competitive player” who “will not shy away from a tackle”.
The youngster has also represented Scotland at under 17 and under 19 level.
Another former Arab rumoured to be on his way to Stark’s Park is out of contract Alloa midfielder Ryan McCord.
The 26-year-old began his career with Dundee United, and had loan spells at both Stirling Albion and Airdrie, before departing Tannadice in 2011 after failing to break into the first team.
McCord subsequently signed for Alloa, and has been a firm favourite at Recreation Park over the past four seasons where he has won two promotions, making almost 150 appearances and scoring 34 goals.
Raith have also announced that Grant Anderson, Craig Barr, David Bates, Ross Callachan, Kieran Campbell, Jonny Court, Kevin Cuthbert, Laurie Ellis, Elliot Ford, Scott Law, Ross Matthews, David McGurn, Rory McKeown, Callum Robertson, Mark Stewart, Jason Thomson, Lewis Vaughan have all been retained.
Released are Ryan Conroy, Calum Elliot, Liam Fox, Douglas Hill, Kevin Moon, Liam McCroary, Christian Nade and Martin Scott.
The club remains in discussion with goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw and defender Paul Watson.
