Supporter Director Andy Mill had organised the event, which originally would have seen supporters walk to the home ground of Dundee United from Stark’s Park and meet up with Arabas fans as well as a contingent from Cove Rangers who were undertaking similar routes.

However, advice from Police Scotland has meant a reduction in the distance being walked.

A statement from the club said: “After an intervention by Police Scotland regarding safety concerns regarding the route proposed for this weekend’s walk to Tannadice, and after much discussion – Rovers supporters will participate in the walk on Saturday albeit in a reduced capacity.

“The plan is to walk from the Tay Bridge car park (on the Fife side of the bridge, meeting at 6:00pm) to Tannadice.

Supporters wishing to attend will be responsible for their own transport arrangements to the Tay Bridge.

“If you intend to walk with the group please email Rovers Director Andy Mill on [email protected].”

The club have already raised over £5,500 from the event which is earmarked to fund the costs of the ongoing legal dispute with Hearts and Partick Thistle.

Mill spoke to the Fife Free Press about the outstanding efforts of the Kirkcaldy side’s fanbase which has seen them raise over £100,000 to date to help the club through all the challenges they have faced as a consequence of the Covid-19 crisis.

The money has helped the club survive through the most unprecedented times where the club has had no income from the usual methods.

Raith supporters have been incredible over the last few months,” he said.

“I set up the initial crowdfunding page which is sitting at £57,000 which is a fantastic amount to raise from our supporters.

“A lot are facing pretty uncertain times with the Covid crisis impacting their financial stability and they never cease to amaze me

“The money they have raised has been a godsend and in total has broken through the £100,000 mark which is amazing.”
